Spring Skin Care & Seasonal Skin Changes
As we head towards summer, and hopefully some warmer months, it’s quite common for skin to feel a little different.
You might find your usual routine isn’t working in quite the same way, or that your skin feels slightly unsettled without there being a clear reason why. This time of year often sits somewhere between seasons, and your skin can reflect that.
It’s not usually about needing to do more, but about understanding what’s changed and adjusting things in a way that actually supports your skin.
What tends to change
This time of year can be a bit of a mix.
There can still be some dryness from winter, but you may also start to notice areas of oiliness or sensitivity coming through. Skin doesn’t always adjust at the same pace as the weather, which is why it can feel slightly out of sync. It’s also quite common for skin to look a bit dull at this point. Not necessarily a problem, just a sign that it’s been through a few months of colder weather, indoor heating and heavier products.
What to watch out for
One of the main things I see at this time of year is people changing too much at once. New products, different routines, trying to fix something quickly. It often ends up making the skin more reactive than it needs to be.
Dehydration is another common one. Skin can feel tight or look flat, and it’s easy to assume it needs something heavier, when actually it just needs better hydration.
You may also notice increased sensitivity, especially if you’ve started to spend more time outdoors again. Skin that’s been covered up through winter can take a bit of time to adjust.
Keeping things steady
In most cases, small adjustments are enough. That might be simplifying your routine slightly, focusing a bit more on hydration, or being a bit more consistent rather than introducing lots of new products at once. It’s also worth paying attention to how your skin is responding day to day, rather than sticking rigidly to a routine that might have worked a few months ago.
When to consider treatment
If your skin still feels unsettled, or you’re not sure what it needs, this is usually where a consultation helps.
A medical-grade skin facial can be a good starting point at this time of year. It allows the skin to be assessed properly while still doing something supportive, whether that’s improving hydration, gently refreshing the skin, or just helping things feel a bit more balanced again. For some, this may also lead to a discussion around treatments that support overall skin quality longer term, but that’s always based on what’s appropriate for your skin, not the time of year.
A more considered approach
Spring is often a good time to take a step back. Rather than trying to change everything, it’s usually about understanding what your skin needs now, not what it needed a few months ago. Keeping things simple, making small adjustments, and building from there tends to give more consistent results over time
All treatments are discussed and recommended following a full medical consultation.
